StepStone Solutions at Canon Europe
The UK Sunday Times recently featured StepStone Solutions' work at Canon Europe.
CANON, the global provider of imaging and information technology, has been active in Europe for about 40 years. The Japanese company has a strong presence, with 11,000 employees spread across 19 countries, and last year had record growth - but still has ambitious plans for the European market, which produces 30% of the group's revenue. Two years ago Canon decided that to achieve its ambitions, its European business needed to be re-organised. Reshaping such a large organization was a big challenge, but the results have been widely praised. Canon now works in five-year strategy cycles - the latest "global excellence plan" is due to be completed this year. Vance Kearney, European Vice- President of Human Resources at Oracle, the computer company, when presenting Canon with a Personnel Today award for its global HR strategy, described Canon's restructuring as "a complete transformation from a highly decentralised, loosely connected collection of businesses, to a cohesive and consistently managed pan- European organisation".
